Fear of flying

Before takeoff, count rows to two exits, read the card, put shoes on for takeoff and landing, and keep heavy items stowed.

Emergency basics
The safety card and crew instructions come first. This expands the mental checklist so you are not trying to invent a plan while stressed.
Read the card for your aircraft, count rows to exits in front and behind, check whether the nearest exit is over-wing, and keep your seat belt low and tight.
Stow bags properly, keep shoes on for takeoff and landing, and do not block the aisle with loose items.
If told to brace, follow the crew and card instructions for your seat type. Stay braced until instructed otherwise.
If smoke is present, cover nose and mouth if possible, stay low, move toward your counted exit and follow cabin crew commands.
Do not take luggage. Move quickly, jump and slide when instructed, then clear away from the aircraft.
Put the vest on when told, but do not inflate it inside the aircraft unless crew specifically instructs you to do so.
